Privacy Policy
Cold Chain Campus ("we", "us") is an online course in cold chain management with quizzes, leaderboards and case-study games, available on the web and as an app for iPhone, iPad and Android. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.
What we collect
- Account details you give us: your name, email address and password, your account type (Professional, Student or Professor), and your company, organization or institution. A student's school is worked out from their .edu email address. Your password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication and stored only in hashed form; we never see it.
- Learning activity: XP points, streak, lives, which lessons, flashcards and quizzes you've completed, whether each quiz answer was right, Final Jeopardy wagers, your Cold Chain Trail case-study runs (the choices you made and your score), and your participation and standing in school events.
- Data stored on your device: the app keeps a copy of your progress and settings (such as sound on or off) in your browser or app storage, so it loads quickly and can hold progress through a brief loss of connection.
- Security signals: we use Firebase App Check with Google reCAPTCHA v3 to confirm requests come from the genuine app and not from automated abuse. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information, such as device and browser data, and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- Technical logs: our hosting provider (Netlify) and Google Firebase record technical information such as IP address, device and browser type, and request times, to keep the service secure and working.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or payment information. The app has no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking tools.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account, verify your email address, and sign you in.
- To save your course progress, award XP, unlock modules, and run leaderboards and school events.
- To prevent cheating and abuse (for example, the server decides how much XP each answer earns).
- To answer your questions when you contact us.
Who can see your information
- Other learners: students at the same school see your first name, last initial and XP on your school's leaderboard, and on an event's standings if you join a school event. The university leaderboard shows only each school's total points, not individuals.
- Program administrators: Cold Chain Campus staff can see each account's name, email, account type, XP, organization or school, and sign-up date, to approve accounts, run events and help with problems.
- Service providers that store and process data for us: Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Realtime Database, Cloud Functions and App Check, on Google servers in the United States), Netlify (website hosting) and Google Fonts (your device downloads the app's fonts from Google).
- When the law requires it, for example to respond to a valid legal request.
We never sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time:
- In the app or on the website: sign in, tap your initial in the top-right corner, choose Delete account, and enter your password. Your sign-in account, profile, XP, course progress, case-study results and leaderboard entries are deleted right away. Points you already added to your school's total on the university leaderboard stay there as part of an anonymous total.
- By email: write to YOUR_SUPPORT_EMAIL from the address on your account, and we'll delete it within 30 days.
Copies held in our providers' routine logs and backups expire on their normal schedule.
Children
Cold Chain Campus is meant for university students and working professionals. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to stored data is limited by Firebase security rules, and actions that change scores or progress are checked on our servers.
Your choices and rights
You can see most of your information in the app. To correct something, contact us. Depending on where you live (for example, in the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, or to object to its use. To make a request, contact us at the address below.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll let you know in the app.
